Succulent Crassula Jade Variegated
Succulent Crassula Jade Variegated
Variegated Money Tree (Crassula ovata ‘Variegata’), also known as Tricolor Jade or Crassula argentea variegated, is native to the arid slopes of southern Africa. There, light is sharp and persistent, rain rare and fleeting. The soil is little more than sand and stone, and wind moves freely over open ground. Life endures through adaptation—plants that hold water, reduce waste, and gather strength in silence.
Among these survivors stands the Crassula ovata ‘Variegata’, its thick, oval leaves banded in cream, yellow, and green, sometimes brushed with red along the edges when exposed to bright sun. Each leaf is a vessel, storing the brief generosity of rain for the long intervals that follow. The stems grow sturdy and woody with age, branching into miniature trees that echo the shape of a larger landscape.
Its surfaces are smooth, faintly waxed to resist loss. Sun and stress bring color; shade restores calm. The symmetry is simple yet deliberate—leaves stacked in tidy succession, each one positioned to receive light without excess.
In cultivation, Variegated Jade thrives in bright light, minimal water, and fast-draining soil. It carries the quiet poise of its origin: resilient, sculptural, and calm in its endurance. A living emblem of balance, it grows not in haste, but with the patience of stone learning to bloom.
Varieties: Plants that are bred to deliver a range of interesting traits that affect sizes and colors are known as varieties.
