Caring for Your New Plant
At BotanicBond, we believe every plant has an ideal home—and it’s your unique space that completes the picture. Our job is to help you set the stage so your plant can thrive where it’s planted.
Each plant comes with a care card for quick reference, but true success comes from getting to know your plant over time. Your environment, your routines, and even your attention all shape how it grows. These tips will give you a strong starting point—after that, it’s a journey you and your plant take together.
Green Leaf Plant Basics
Caring for plants doesn’t have to feel like rocket science. Most of it comes down to four variables:
- Light
- Water
- Temperature
- Airflow
Once you get the hang of balancing these, the rest falls into place.
A Taste of the Tropics
Most of our green-leaf plants are tropical by nature. Imagine:
A lush rainforest bursting with broad leaves, mist curling through tangled vines, sunlight dancing through green layers, birds calling overhead, and warm, damp air that hugs your skin.
Your plant is a little ambassador from that world. With a few adjustments, you can recreate the conditions it loves—right in your home.
Watering: A Rhythm, Not a Schedule
- Never let soil stay soggy for more than 24 hours—it’s open to invite for gnats and root rot.
- Every pot must drain well.
- Some plants only need water once a month, especially in low light or low airflow.
- Wind and light speed up drying, so water more often if your plant gets a lot of both.
- When you water, soak the soil fully—tell your plant “a good rain has come.”
Leaves & Light
- Dark green leaves – Need less light.
- Light green leaves – Need more light.
- Colorful leaves – Often do fine with a bit less light, but experiment to find their sweet spot.
- If unsure, start with bright, indirect light and adjust based on how your plant responds.
Other Helpful Habits
- Dust leaves gently now and then—clean leaves “breathe” better through tiny pores called stomata and look healthier.
- Some beauties—like gasteria, bougainvillea, and plumeria—only bloom outdoors with full sun and warmth. Indoors, they’ll still thrive, but may skip flowering.
The Secret Ingredient: You
Water, light, and soil matter—but so does your attention. A quick glance, a moment of observation, even a passing thought creates a subtle connection. Over time, this bond helps both you and your plant grow.
