Succulents (various species, including genera such as Echeveria, Aloe, and Crassula) are native to arid regions across southern Africa, Mexico, and the southwestern United States. They evolved in environments defined by extremes—intense sunlight, sparse rainfall, and temperature swings between day and night. Their soils are sandy, porous, and poor in nutrients. Life here is about efficiency, not abundance.
