Hoya 'Curtisii'
Hoya 'Curtisii'
Fung Wax Flower (Hoya ‘Curtisii’) is native to the tropical forests of the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand, where it grows epiphytically along tree trunks and rocky slopes. The climate is consistently warm and humid, with light filtering through the canopy in shifting fragments and rain arriving in brief, frequent bursts.
This miniature species forms a compact, trailing mat of small, rounded leaves—olive green and mottled with silver-gray. Each leaf is thick and slightly pointed at the tip, with a firm, succulent texture that conserves moisture during dry intervals. Over time, the vines spread densely across surfaces, rooting lightly where they touch before cascading in soft, hanging layers.
When mature, Hoya ‘Curtisii’ produces clusters of tiny, star-shaped flowers—yellow-green with pink to burgundy centers—that release a subtle, sweet fragrance. Though modest in scale, the blooms contrast beautifully against the patterned foliage, lending the plant a delicate balance of intricacy and restraint.
In cultivation, Hoya ‘Curtisii’ thrives in bright, indirect light and well-draining soil. It prefers high humidity but tolerates brief dryness with ease. Slow-growing and textural, it is prized for its trailing habit and fine detail—a living tapestry suited to both display and quiet observation.
