Hoya Chouke

Hoya Chouke

Wax Plant (Hoya cv. Chouke), also known as the Porcelain Flower, is a cultivated hybrid between Hoya carnosa and Hoya serpens. It inherits the durability of the former and the delicate texture of the latter, forming a compact, trailing habit suited to warm, humid forest margins. In nature and cultivation alike, it thrives in bright, filtered light and well-aerated conditions where air movement and moisture are constant companions.

Its leaves are small, rounded, and deep green with fine silver flecking scattered across the surface. The texture is smooth and firm, the foliage dense enough to drape elegantly from a pot or weave across supports. Each vine grows slowly but purposefully, balancing the sturdiness of its lineage with refined detail.

When mature, Hoya Chouke produces clusters of large, white, star-shaped flowers up to fifteen millimeters wide. The blooms are softly fuzzy, each centered with a vivid orange corona that glows against the pale petals. Their fragrance is sweet and persistent, and the flowers endure for several days before fading cleanly from the vine.

In cultivation, it flourishes in bright, indirect light with moderate humidity and infrequent watering. Admired as the “fraternal twin” of Hoya Mathilde, Hoya Chouke stands out for its balance of resilience, fragrance, and compact grace—an elegant hybrid born of two classic species.
